Vital Wolves: Defeat to Palace - The Verdict

Wolves became the latest shock in this years FA Cup last night.

While it might not have been as embarrassing as losing at home to a Division Four side, which is what happened to Wigan, losing to Crystal Palace hurts just as much.

We can role out the old cliches of concentrating on the league etc, but this season would have been a great year for a Cup run.

Instead a six minute hat-trick from a player whose last goal came in December 2008 knocked us out of this seasons FA Cup.

Danny Butterfield found the net on the 62, 65 and 68th minute to earn Palace a home draw with Aston Villa in the next round.

Karl Henry found a consolation goal, but really, it was no consolation!

'I'm not going to sit here and condemn my team, I've just done that to them personally in the dressing room.' McCarthy told Wolves Official Website.

'I've had my pound of flesh in there and I'm going to have another one when we get back into training on Thursday.

'We'll sort it out between us, I will have my discussions behind closed doors with the lads.'

Vital Wolves Comment: Gutting to get knocked out of the Cup at this stage. This years FA Cup looks wide open and it would have been great to still be in it.
