Formation pleases McCarthy

Wolves gaffer Mick McCarthy is pleased with the results of the recent chance in style and formation.

In recent games we have ditched the traditional 4-4-2, in favour of the currently popular 4-5-1 formation, which adapts to 4-3-3 when going forward.

'We have played differently, and it has made us more secure.' Boss Mick McCarthy told Wolves Official Website.

McCarthy had previously wondered whether a switch on formation would alter the amount of chances we could create, but Mick has decided that it hasn't had too much of an affect.

He added: 'It hasn't affected the amount of chances that we have created, because the lads in midfield have been up and down.

'We have probably had as many chances playing that way and we have never looked as stretched either.'

Vital Wolves Comment: I think we should have fielded this formation more often this season.

When we had the heavy defeats to Arsenal and Chelsea earlier this season we played 4-4-2, which at the time we said was a little niave.

At least now we are beginning to look a little bit more savvy at the back and that can only be a good thing!
