'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wolves charged

Wolverhampton Wanderers have been handed a suspended £25,000 fine for being in breach of Rules E.20 and Rule B.13.

In English that means we've had a slap on the wrists for Mick McCarthy's decision to make 10 changes against Manchester United back in December.

'We are obviously disappointed but we respect the Premier League's ruling especially as they have now used our case as a clear warning to all other clubs, some of whom have made similar changes to their teams in Premier League matches in the past, that this is not acceptable in the future.' Chief Executive Jez Moxey told Wolves Official Website.

While Mick McCarthy added: 'It was never my intention to break any of the Premier League's rules, only to pick a team that was in the best position to get a result.

'I'm pleased the matter is now closed.'

Vital Wolves Comment: This decision will no doubt annoy some supporters from other teams who wanted us to have points deducted and all sorts of other ludicrous penalties.

While it annoyed me from a fans point of view, McCarthy was vindicated as soon we beat Burnley a week later. Why we have been punished when other teams are allowed to do it seems crazy.

The only team in the Prem that fields their "Strongest Side" game after game is Birmingham..... How much is everyone else getting fined then?????

See my comments on the previous article. The bit that you didn't report was how the decision is to be served as a warning to other clubs from doing the same thing in future games. Note - you did not actually get a fine.
Gunnerman
gunnerman you taking after Arsene Wenger and not seeing what's directly in front of you? Akela's article says its a suspended fine and Jez refers to the decision as a warning to other clubs. Did you want akela to put those parts in flashing lights for you?
Wolf Man
Most clubs field weakened sides in cup comps not the prem, that is why they are throwing their toys out of the pram though. Still W4nkers though
