Vital Wolves: Defeat to Chelsea - The Verdict

Wolves lost 2-0 to Chelsea at the weekend.

The defeat may have been expected, but the performance, for Chelsea and their fans certainly wasn't.

Didier Drogba bagged both the goals and anyone who just looked up the score on Saturday afternoon would have decided that it was a breeze for the Premier League leaders.

But that simply wasn't the case.

'I've just had a right chew at the lads in the dressing-room because we've lost a game that we shouldn't have.' Wolves gaffer McCarthy told the BBC.

He added: 'We've let Chelsea off the hook today and that's what has annoyed me. We had them in that second half, we had them. We created chances, didn't take them, and then conceded a sloppy second goal that has killed us.

'Chelsea are the champions-elect and we've matched them in all departments today except putting the ball in the back of the net.'

The feedback from Chelsea fans on Vital Wolves suggests that the glory supporters of Chelsea agree.

Whew, you guys were inspired too bad you couldnt do it to the mancs. Chelsea24/7

do you regret chucking the towel in before you'd even kicked off at Old Trafford now? merlin

Gotta agree with Merlin and Chelsea24/7 here, resting players for the OT match was a disgrace, admitting defeat before a ball is even kicked is horrendous but to do it when United were facing their worst defensive injury crisis in recent memory well that's just unsportsmanlike. Good effort for the weekend, just a shame you didn't try in every match.(or i should say it's a shame McCarthy didn't let you try!)LamparDrogbAnelKalou

Vital Wolves Comment: I will not comment on the comments from the Chelsea fans, we`ve covered McCarthy's Manchester United team selection enough over the past couple of months!

But at least we can take a lot from the performance. We didn't expect to get anything from Chelsea points wise, but importantly we have taken confidence and that can be used to gain points from future games.
