Little sympathy for the Hoff

Stefan Maierhofer was due to play in the Wolves reserves match against Telford this week.

But following training with the youngsters, the 6ft 8ins 27-year-old Austrian had to withdraw through illness.

"He cried off on the morning with illness," said development coach Steve Weaver to the Express & Star.

The striker hasn't played since December and he was training with the youth lads to build up fitness.

Weaver added: "He came in first thing and didn`t look great.

"There`s been a bit of illness going around and he saw the doctor.

"Some of the younger boys have been affected so he may have caught something off them because he was training with them at the weekend."

Vital Wolves Comment: Stefan Maierhofer has never really settled at Molineux and hearing that he has been training with the nippers doesn't come as a huge surprise.

I expect we`ll see little more of the Hoff in a Wolves shirt and expect a hasty departure in the summer.
