'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Friend keen to catch Mick's eye.

George Friend hopes that his performances for Exeter will stand him in good stead for next season.

Friend is at his fourth club on loan this season, with spells at Millwall, Scunthorpe and Southend.

He told skysports.com: 'He (McCarthy) is the one who told me I needed games, so that is what I have done and he is the one I need to impress in whatever position I play in at whatever club I am at.'

'It does help me as a player to be able to slot into a number of positions, but my preferred position is left-back.

'I am just enjoying playing regularly and every new position that I play in adds another string to my bow.'

Wolves signed him from Exeter at the beginning of last season but found it hard to break into the team. He put in some decent performances towards the end when Matt Jarvis and Michael Kightly were injured.

VitalWolves View: I like Friend, I thought he was ok at Old Trafford and hope Mick keeps him. He can certainly be on 'for the future'.

Playing for Exeter though is hardly impressive. I think he might as well move on.

I agree Akela, he is a half decent prospect but I don't think he has enough to to offer as a Premier League prospect to be honest. He could be a good shout for the likes of Forest etc

If he was given enough games then I think Friend could develop considerably. I have a feeling he will have become a very good player within a couple of years . It would be a pity if it was not with wolves.
