Wolves hunt down stadium expansion
Wolves plans to develop Molineux into a 40,000-seater stadium look set to be put into motion.
Wolves plan to spend around £40 million on Molineux to boost the existing 29,300 capacity.
A stumbling block had been the current 125 year lease on the land, but an agreement with the council has now prevented that problem.
"Jez has praised Wolverhampton and said Wolves are looking to spend £40m. I understand they`re in talks with the University over buying some land at the back of Molineux as well." council leader Neville Patten told the Express & Star.
With Wolves pushing for the freehold on the land, but the council didn't wish to do so, the club and council came to an agreement of agreeing a 999 year lease on the land.
Patten added: "This means any developers who may want to put money in know that their investment will last.
"It also prevents the stadium from being moved out of the city centre."
A a hotel and conference centre could also be included in the redevelopment.
Vital Wolves Comment: It all sounds so positive and as this appeared in the E&S yesterday I`m sure it isn't an April Fools joke either!
