Goal drought no concern for McCarthy

Wolves are suffering from a goal drought at the moment.

It was a point we highlighted here on Vital Wolves yesterday.

We have now failed to score a single goal over four matches, however only one has been conceded and that was by Arsenal.

Yesterday we wrote: Under any other circumstances I'd be getting concerned that we have now gone 360 minutes without scoring a goal.

However as those four games have brought three draws and just one defeat to Arsenal, I'll take it, especially as each one puts us closer to another season in the Premier League.

It appears that McCarthy shares our conclusions!

"Someone said we`re not scoring, but if we get three clean sheets, I`ll take it.' McCarthy told the Express & Star.

He added: "I don`t subscribe to the theory that we`re safe because until we`re mathematically safe, we`re not and we can`t let up.'

Vital Wolves Comment: If we survive this season and go into a second season in the Premier League we are going to have to score more goals.

While the current system keeps us solid and difficult to beat, we do not create enough chances going forward so the balance isn't quite there.
