Reading have made the first official cash bid for Joleon Lescott, but have seen their offer turned down.
Wolves CEO Jez Moxey has said
'I can confirm that we have received a bid for Joleon and it has been rejected,' stopping short of naming the actual club involved.
Lescott is thought to be high on the closed season shopping list of many sides including Sheffield United, Everton, Aston Villa and EUFA Cup winners Seville, and his leaving Molineux now appears to be all but settled, bar the haggling over price.
It is believed there is an existing 'gentleman's agrement' between player and club that would allow Joleon to leave Wanderers, should a big enough offer be made.
With the current bid getting perillously close to £5 million, that time must surely b drawing near.
