Murray not ready to retire

Matt Murray has denied that he will be retiring in the summer. There was a lot of talk about him getting compensation but he told the E&S.

"I`ve had some serious injuries in my career, which I have to make my insurance company aware of.

"But I can say I have absolutely no intention of retiring. The knee feels strong, the surgeon is still confident I can play again as are the physios and medical staff here.

"That`s what I`m continuing to work towards and that`s why I`m going to be in over the summer working on my rehabilitation.

"The knee feels good and if I was thinking about retiring, I certainly wouldn`t be coming in here during the summer.

"At the moment it`s all going well and I`m still aiming to be ready to be with the group at some stage of pre-season.

"Most players have got some form of injury insurance and look into it at the start of each season."

This is good news for me. Murray is a great goalkeeper and if it weren't for injury he would be England's number one keeper. Capello wouldn't have any worries. Hopefully he can have a good pre-season and fight it out for that number one spot at Wolves!

Couldnt agree more [I think!] - I hope and pray that Matt can one day achieve a full recovery and show the Premiership what a brilliant keeper he really is. He is still not at all old in goalkeeping terms [29].

I really do hope that he comes back fitter than ever, but after the last set back I have to confess I have my doubts.
