Stoke man makes plea to McCarthy

Stoke's Liam Lawrence has left a not so subtle hint to Wolves manager Mick McCarthy.

The 28-year-old understandably wants to leave the Britannia Stadium and has hinted at a possible reunion with the man who signed him for Sunderland in 2004.

"He gave me my chance when he signed me from Mansfield for Sunderland, He`s a great manager and he`s done an amazing job this year keeping Wolves up.' Stoke's Liam Lawrence told the Sunday Mercury.

Lawrence recently told gaffer Tony Pulis that he wanted to leave Stoke City for the sake of his International career.

He added: "I`ve spoken to the manager and told him that I think it`s best if I move on.

"If I`m not playing regularly the Republic of Ireland manager, he`s not daft, he`s going to know that I`m going to be rusty and he`s not going to take a chance on me."

Lawrence offers a wealth of experience with 186 league appearances for Sunderland and Stoke including three seasons in the Premier League.

If we can get him for £1 or £2 m and his wages are under £20k per week I reckon he will bring some needed experience.

Would be a good signing, you need all the players you can get as next season will be harder, simple fact for wolves is. No Doyle = No Prem!
