Wolves Rumour Roundup

Written by Andrew Mccarten

The Mirror is reporting that Wolves and recently relegated Burnley have agreed to a deal which sees Scottish striker Steven Fletcher come to Molineux in exchange for £6m and "surplus to requirements" Chris Iwelumo; Sky Sports also reports a deal has been agreed, but for £7.5m and with a view to sending Wayne Hennessy and Iwelumo on loan to Turf Moor.

This seems feasible, as Fletcher is keen to stay in the top flight, and Iwelumo would likely see much more playing time back in the Championship.

The story states that a deal has not yet been done as Fletcher is currently on vacation.

Various publications continue to link Stephen Hunt with a move away from Hull City, although West Brom have emerged as the favourites to capture the winger`s signature.

Neither Hunt or a representative have yet to comment on the situation, but hopes remain high that his close friendship with Kevin Doyle could influence his decision.

Liam Lawrence has told the Express and Star that his "pleas" for Mick McCarthy to sign him have been taken out of context, saying "I`d love to play for Mick McCarthy, but thats come out as I`m joining Wolves, which is not the case."

Lawrence does, however, underline his admiration for McCarthy, and his desire to leave the Britannia in order to find first team football in the Premier League.

Numerous papers name Wolves as one of the handful of clubs interested in Scunthorpe frontman Gary Hooper, along with Celtic, Middlesbrough, and Wigan. The 22 year old has scored a stunning 43 league goals in just 80 appearances over two seasons for the Iron, one each in League One and the Championship. It is thought that Hooper is an insurance plan should the Fletcher transfer not go through.

Jez Moxey has put to rest rumours that Wolves will move for current Dundee United defender Garry Kenneth. Sky Sports quotes him as labelling the Scot "not on our list of targets." Blackpool look the likely destination should Kenneth leave Tannadice.

I think its time for Iwelumo to leave he's a championship player. i think wolves should look at Craid Bellamy as rumors are he is availble. Not sure if Hunt would improve us. id like to see 3 or 4 good signings and maybe 1 or 2 good loan players

Bellamy's wage demands wouldn't be realistic I don't think.
