The first Vital Wolves fan interview of the summer has now been completed and the first person in the hot seat is Erick1011.
Interestingly Erick1011 is from Mexico and is relatively new Wolves supporter.
Question number 1: What is your username on Vital Wolves?
My username is Erick1011. I'm the Mexican Wolves supporter, and I'm as passionate about them as I am for the Mexico international team.
Question 2: How long have you supported Wolves?
Since 2006, but I've only been able to watch their games this past season because they don't air the Championship games where I live.
Question 3: How did you become a Wolves fan?
As any other Mexican probably does, I play FIFA, and I've played the franchise for the last ten years. I would always pick Wolverhampton on my Manager Mode and eventually, I fell in love with the colors, the crest, and the team itself.
Question 4: If you could pick one highlight as a Wolves fan what would it be?
I think for me, the highlight of the season was the double against Spurs, which showed everyone in the Premier League that Wolves have what it takes to beat Champions League teams.
Question 5: Who is your all time favourite Wolves player?
Honestly, I've always liked Greg Halford and I think Mick doesn't give him enough of a chance. He's a young, versatile player, and he's a good English prospect. However, I'd say my favorite Wolves player is none other than Ronald Zubar. He's just such a good defender, and he shows how foreign players are sometimes a good investment for the Premier League.
Question 6: What was your assessment of last season?
I thought last season was very productive for us. Although we didn't get far in any Cup competition, we grew together as a team. Our players got Premier League experience, and I think next season, we'll be stronger. Many 'experts' expected us to go down last season, and we proved them wrong by staying up, and staying in 15th place, above other established teams. Last season was a prolific one, in my opinion.
Question 7: Are you pro or anti Mick McCarthy?
I think McCarthy could do better with us than any other manager. He's built this team from scratch, he's signed every player for us, and he's built a Wolverhampton that us fans deserve. He's Super Mick, that's it.
Question 8: If money and status was no object, who would you most like to see in a Wolves shirt?
Some of you probably remember these two guys. Carlos Vela, Mexican Left Forward. He ripped through the English defense easily, but your goalkeeper saved you various times. He doesn't get much playing time in Arsenal.
The other player I'd buy, Giovanni Dos Santos. An U-17 Peru 2005 World Cup winner, like Carlos Vela. A great prospect. He's played for Barcelona before, and he has a good eye for goals but also makes some good passes. He's currently on loan to Galatasaray from Tottenham.
Question 9: Predictions for the World Cup, how far will England get, how will we get knocked out and who will go on to win it?
I think the final game will be England vs. Spain. However I'm betting on the Three Lions. Although Spain has some good players, they have a history of underachievement in the World Cup.
Unlike BloggerWolf, however, I think Mexico can go on past Round 1.
Question 10: Predictions for Wolves next season, where do we need to strengthen, should Mick stick with one up front?
Even though 4-5-1 worked last season, I'm positive that next season will be harder. We've got Newcastle, we've got West Brom and against all odds, we've got Blackpool coming up. I think that Kevin Doyle needs a partner he can flourish with (and I'm not talking about his wedding in the summer).
I think we can start with 4-5-1 but we'll probably need to tweak our formation a bit.
Question 11: What is your question for the next interviewee on Vital Wolves?
Do you think Wolverhampton can establish themselves in the Premier League and once again, become a great club?
Thanks to Erick1011 for agreeing to be our first interview!
