Hennessey staying with Wolves

Speculation may have suggested otherwise, but Wayne Hennessey is happy at Molineux and has signed a five-year contract to prove it.

The 23-year-old who was reportedly unhappy after losing his spot to Marcus Hahnemann had been linked with a move to Liverpool for numerous months.

Rafael Benitez was reportedly a big fan and offered around £2million for the Welsh stopper.

Even after Benitez's departure, Hennessey was being linked with a move to Anfield, while a loan move to Burnley was also on the cards at one point last month.

But media reports are not always right and instead, Hennessey looks happy to stay and has signed a new contract.

'This is really good news for the club to have secured one of its best young players and one who will be keen to play a big part in the future.' McCarthy told Wolves Official Website.

Vital Wolves Comment: This surprised me to be honest! I didn't want him to leave, but I had convinced myself that he would go in search of first team football.

Perhaps a loan move might still be on offer, but at least long term his future remains with us!
