With all the big plans around Molineux at the moment, the one thing that is crucial for the development is that we remain in the Premier League.
One other club that recently announced a stadium expansion plan was Reading. Their fans were enjoying watching the likes of Kevin Doyle, Stephen Hunt and Marcus Hahnemann playing against Premier League opposition, but in their second season in the top flight they were relegated.
With relegation, the players left, the stadium plans were scrapped and Reading haven't looked like a club about to return to the Premier League.
The similarities are almost scary. Second season syndrome in the Premier League catches out so many and the pressure is really on McCarthy and the players to survive so that Wolves can continue to take the club forward.
"I don`t feel any extra pressure - the team is my concern.' McCarthy told the Express & Star.
Mick added: "If I concentrate on that, I might keep it right and then everything else can be done in tandem with that or alongside it. I don`t know if there`s extra pressure on me - you would have to ask Steve and Jez.
"I`m not saying it all hinges on the team because the board want to get the work done anyway, but all those things rely on the team playing Premier League football.
"Quite clearly we need to be in the Premier League for the building of the new stadium to happen, because we need to be filling it up."
