'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hoff for sale

For sale, one 27-year-old Austrian striker, stands 6 ft 8 in, used to score goals for fun.

All enquiries please contact Mick McCarthy.

'Stefan is for sale.' McCarthy told the Guardian.

He added: 'I tell the players if they can go and then I guess they tell their agents who go and drum up a bit of business, and get the business done. There is a bit of interest in Stefan from abroad.'

It isn't a surprise, that McCarthy is hoping to sell on Stefan Maierhofer after his 1.8million transfer spectacularly failed.

He failed to impress on the pitch and then reportedly fell out with Mick off the field following his hernia injury.

Once back to full fitness, he even failed to impress on loan at Bristol City.

McCarthy I'm sure is hoping to get back some of the original 1.8million he spent on him a year ago, but may just be tempted to cut his losses and sell on the cheap.

He certainly will not be missed with the options McCarthy has up front with Doyle and Fletcher.

We will be lucky to recoup 500K IMO. Along with Greg Halford two really poor MM signings.

Totally agree, sadly just not good enough - got to question the scouting system on this one, still can't get 'em all right can ya?

Be lucky to recoup anything on The Hoff. I just want to know what drugs the scouts must have been on when they reckoned he was good enough for the PL! Must be really good stuff!!
