'If It's Football, It's Vital'

McCarthy pleased with adaptability

The off the field action has stolen most of the headlines, but in the middle of the problems with supporters Wolves defeated Charleroi 2-1 on Saturday night.

Charleroi just couldn't get to grips with Greg Halford's long throw, much to the delight of Kevin Doyle and Dave Edwards who bagged the goals.

But while the result was welcome boss McCarthy was more delighted with the adaptability of his side as he switched from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3 without the need to change personnel.

'What was nice was the adaptability of Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Kevin Doyle, Andy Keogh and Adlene Guedioura.' Mick McCarthy told Wolves Official Website.

McCarthy added: 'They all just slotted into position and they made us very hard to break down.

'They were very disciplined and they did their jobs whereas last season I might have had to change people to do it.'

I can't wait for the first game of the season, pre-saeson wins are great for building team moral but I just want to see the first points on the board. It's going to be a tough season but with the competition for places evident I've got a feeling it's going to be a great second season, SEB seems out to prove a point so let's hope he's found his mojo
