Mancienne hands in transfer request

As we expected on Vital Wolves, Michael Mancienne wants to leave Chelsea and has reportedly handed in a transfer request.

"I`ve been at Chelsea since I was a kid and I`d love to break into the first team, but it`s hard for any young player knowing how much quality they`ve got.' Mancienne told the Express & Star.

"I`ve had two seasons on loan at Wolves and had regular games and really enjoyed it.

"Now I want to be settled at one club."

Wolves fans are desperate to see Michael Mancienne back at the club after spending the past two seasons on loan with us!

However having spent big already this season, we now need to sell if we are to offer the £4-5 million needed to persuade Chelsea to sell.

Vital Wolves Comment: While it isn't yet a forgone conclusion that Mancienne will be at Molineux next season, this latest development has to be good news surely?

I think if he decides to come back, Moxey will splash out the money for him.

Didn't Steve Morgan already say that he would fund the purchase out of his own pocket (that is as an additional amount to the existing transfer budget)? When you see how short Chelsea are on homegrown players for their squad, I still believe that a possible deal is a long way off right now.

Once the player says he wants to go there is little point keeping him. I would say he has asked what his chances of games are there and did not like the answer. He is still young but footballers have a short life span (despite being made for life by the time they retire)- I think the time has come where he just knows his chances will always be limited and he really just wants his football and a place to call home. I would be amazed if he goes anywhere else and I have no doubts Morgan will put his hand in his pocket for this one. I don't see any of the driftwood being snapped up any time soon and it would be counter productive to let such a talent slip through our fingers. Aside from his outstanding quality he is a sure fire investment. He knows the club, the manager, the fans, I imagine he will be with us in a week or so after they have argued about money (funny that Chelsea should argue about money right?- and I am laughing) but deals eventually get done. Claude Van Damme being a prime example- and he's a trained kick boxer to boot. Reel him in.

Not a huge Mancienne fan. Too light weight for centre half, not controlling enough for a defensive mid, but does have potential. Jones and Henry are better, and I think Gued would be better in that role, so to me not an essential signing
