Friendly results matter, well sort of, we think

Following three wins in three different countries against Bohemians, Walsall and Charleroi Wolves went down to Reading last night.

But before you panic, it wasn't a first choice team as many of these pre season games rarely are.

Sigurdsson put Reading in front from the penalty spot after Stearman fouled in the box.

Reading's Antonio made it 2-0 deep into the second half.

Dave Jones got the consolation, but Reading ran out the winners.

Before the game we were not totally sure if Mick McCarthy would be too bothered about the result: "It`s nice when you win, and results do matter because they create a good feeling about the place, from talking to people around the area. But I`ve been more encouraged by the performances. Results at this stage don`t count for anything.' McCarthy told the Express & Star before the defeat to Reading last night.

The results matter, but count for nothing? Clear as mud!

So what did he think after the game?

Speaking to Wolves Official Website he said: "I never like to lose but maybe it`s not a bad thing. If you go through the pre-season winning all your games everyone thinks you`re wonderful but we know we`re not now. I don`t need a reminder of that but maybe it`s a nice reminder to everyone else.'

So losing is actually a good thing then? Ever thought of a career in politics Mick?

Vital Wolves Comment: So what do you think, do friendly results matter??
