No more signings..yet says McCarthy

No more signings..yet says McCarthy

Wolves gaffer Mick McCarthy has confirmed the news that we need to sell some players before splashing the cash again.

With £18 million spent already this summer and McCarthy juggling the squad ready for the new 25-man squad rule that the Premier League will implement in September. It has been widely accepted that we need to sell before we can buy again.

Which normally would be accepted by us at Vital Wolves as we have never wanted us to gamble financially in the transfer market.

But on this occasion we are left frustrated with the apparent news that Michael Mancienne has handed in a transfer request at Chelsea.

"I guess people should ask their manager Carlo Ancelotti whether we should read anything into the transfer request.' McCarthy told the Express & Star.

He added: 'If I was reading anything into it, I suggest he wants a transfer. But that`s the first I`ve heard about it.

Our chance to bag a real talent for around £4-5million is a reality but we do not appear to be in a position to take advantage.

Mick continued: "I`m not looking at signings at all at the moment. We need to lose some players rather than take anymore in and certainly won`t do any more business unless anyone leaves."

Vital Wolves Comment: Who do you think will leave to hopefully make way for Michael Mancienne?

Ooh, went overboard a bit...should have at least kept a couple of million at the ready. Still, sell a few fringe or under-performing players like Maierhofer and Ebanks-Blake, and you'll be good to go.

i think it is just good PR by Mick, we must surely be in pole position for Mancienne, but stating publicly that we wont be rushed and wont buy until we sell makes us seem less desperate... an less inclined to be fleeced by chelski. nice one mick.

Cannot believe too of you say sell blake , And have keogh for back up to doyle n fletcher ??? , Jeeeeeez have a word with urself will ya , He had 1 bad season and lets face it how much service did he actually have when he did play ?????? , Doyles work rate and strength got him his goals , not because of a bombardment of crosses !!!!! , Mick has bought in the areas we needed , Yes I'd like Mancienne , But im sure MM would have liked other clubs to have come in and purchased the likes of the Hoff / Keogh / Hill / Halford sooner than they have and then funds would have been there , Really winds me up that you slag Blake off , Hes still a kid really , His goals got us to where we are now , Hes looking strong / sharp n quick in pre season and will be ideal back up even pushing for a start !!!!!

SEB will be a different player this season and back to his best IMO, he knew Keogh wasn't competition for him but with Doyle and Fletcher he know's he's got to fight for his place. Service was an issue the change of formation going from an attacking 4-4-2 with an endless supply of crosses for him to work with to a defensive 4-5-1 just isn't his game. Not sure about more signings but we do need to offload the fringe players, but the news Foley is likely to be used as a central midfielder is a bit worrying.

Endless Crosses ? , I never missed a game last year and for the life of me cant remember many crosses coming from the right , Well Kevin Foley is hardly the man for the job is he !!! , Jarvo did well but his crosses weren't the best either !!!

I have spoken about Blakey From On The Buses before. He got the injury at the worst possible time, he was never fit in a million years and never was throughout the season. Sounds like he has sorted himself (and his head) out ready for the new season. It is amazing that the fella who's goals brought us to where we are has gone through this, but in all reality he will not shift either of the front two. The best he can hope for in reality, injuries aside, is coming off the bench and I am not sure how long he is going to want that. I think he can have a real impact. I think he is a tremendous talent. If Mick had the faith however he would not have gone out and broke the record signing Fletch from Porridge.
