Wolves beaten by Leeds

Matt Jarvis got on the scoreboard, but the goal was a mere consolation in a game that was easily won by Leeds.

Jarvo's goal might have been the equaliser at the time following Gradel's first half effort, but more goals for Leeds followed thanks to Sam and Johnson.

'The test was useful for us. There was some good, some bad and some indifferent. We knew it was going to be tough game and it was. Leeds played well and we didn't, so we got beat and deservedly so.' McCarthy told Wolves Official Website.

Wolves Side: Hennessey, Zubar (Halford 81), Van Damme (Ward 61), Jones, Berra, Craddock, Guedioura (Edwards 61), Henry (capt), Ebanks-Blake (Doyle 78), Fletcher (Foley 86), Jarvis (Keogh 78).

Vital Wolves Comment: Should we be worried about losing to a team just up from Division One?

I must admit I gritted my teeth in the week when I saw the Reading result and was most displeased today to see the result. I majored in Psychology so it is inevitable that it repeatedly slips into my every thought but truly believe that 50% of performance from our players is psychological. I am not going to cry my eyes out over losing a couple of friendlies but you could already feel a bounce about the place after the first three wins. We've had good pre seasons and bad ones- I guess we just never like seeing our team on the losing end of any game. The good news is all the kids are really getting a chance this summer. Reading the match report I must admit I am very concerned at how many we are conceding from set pieces. Moan over. I still back us for a comfortable win come August 14th.

Nope. Leeds are a good team, whose actual position should be near the top of the Championship. If you remember, they beat United then drew with us at the Lane in the FA cup. And anyway, all the big teams are losing friendlies.

Given that the that side would be what most will expect to start the first game of the season (swap Jennessy for Hahnemann and SEB for Doyle in the starting line up) it is of concern that we have not started to get any consistency. Don't give a toss about losing, but the fact that there seemed to be so much action from the six yard box would indicate that we must start with Hahnemann and send Hennessey out on loan to work on his command. The goals coming from set pieces continues to be a worry, indicating we still need to get more defensive quality in.

Indeed Ian. The set piece has been a problem for us in the past and I am just glad this has happened in a friendly. If we have our concerns then we can be rest assured that the players have been put through their paces about it on the training ground since. Dubai- I respect your opinion but I was just trying to point out that winning is a habit, a pleasant one, and losing is the same. Not one we want to get into. I wouldn't mind if we played a reserve team but we should not get whippy doo about losing to a team that effectively just got promoted from the Third Division and gave us a spanking.
