Fletcher value for money

Fletcher value for money

He cost us somewhere in the region of £7million, the most we have ever paid for a player, but our Mick believes Steven Fletcher will prove to be value for money.

Originally it was thought Fletcher was our joint record signing along with Kevin Doyle last season at £6.5million, but recent reports have bumped the price tag up half a million.

But no matter how much he cost, gaffer Mick McCarthy is delighted to have got his man.

"We`ve won some and lost some on transfers, but we`ve won with him because whatever we paid for him, he`s worth every penny.' McCarthy told the Express & Star.

He added: "I`d always been impressed by him, but he`s better than I thought which is always nice when you sign someone. He can play with anyone - he`s a good footballer and he works hard.

"We try to get value for money and I think we`ve had it this summer. We`ve signed some good players.'

How many goals do you think Fletcher can net this season?
