McCarthy not overly concerned over duo

Both Kevin Doyle and Stephen Ward might be carrying knocks but our Mick isn't overly concerned.

Doyle missed the friendly with Athletic Bilbao after taking a kick in the calf during the friendly win over Hearts on Tuesday.

He has since joined up with the Republic of Ireland squad and will be assessed by their medical team.

If he isn't right McCarthy is sure that Ireland will be happy to send him back home.

'If it's only the kick and nothing else he'll be involved but if it's anything else then he'll come back.

'We don't think it is anything else though but I wasn't going to risk him.' McCarthy told Wolves Official Website.

McCarthy doesn't have too many concerns over Stephen Ward either, after he was withdrawn from that match against Bilbao due to a knock on the shoulder.

McCarthy added: 'He's back from the operation - don't get me wrong - but we've been nursing him a little bit and then he gets clattered on his shoulder.'

Just as well really with only a few days left until the start of the season!
