Doyle to remain with Ireland

Positive news for Kevin Doyle! His scan results on his injured calf have come back positive, with no issues for the striker ahead of the new season.

Doyle will now stay with the Republic of Ireland squad (this international window is the daftest thing in a whole line of daft things from FIFA), for their match against Argentina tomorrow.

It is unclear whether he will feature for his country though as although there are no major issues, the injury could still prevent him from playing.

'It usually goes away after a couple of days but it hasn't, which is a bit annoying.' Doyle told Wolves Official Website when speaking about the dead leg.

'It stiffened right up after the game with Hearts and I was struggling and it hasn't really improved since.

'I was only saying I hadn't missed any games through niggles then I missed the Leeds friendly with a tight hamstring and now I've got a dead leg from the Hearts game.

'So I should have kept my mouth shut!!'

Wolves fans will hope that Doyle does sit out the Ireland game with just a few days left until the start of the new Premier League season.

Big game, big occasion for Ireland. A goal for Doyle tonight would put his confidence through the roof for Saturday, so this may be one friendly that actually benefits somebody- well, Doyle and ourselves a like. I imagine we shall have an hour from him against Stoke before Blakey From On The Buses is unleashed upon tiring legs.
