'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Never Ending Story?

According to the Express & Star, Mick McCarthy knows full well that Chelsea want to sell Michael Mancienne and stands by his understanding that the player has asked to leave.

The local paper is now claiming that the price on Michael's head has risen to six million, although there is no indication as to where they came up with this number.

Mick is quoted as saying "They want to sell him but we won`t be buying him. If they were loaning him out again then that`s a different matter altogether.'

I find it interesting that N'Daw has not been mentioned for weeks now. My feeling is that one of the two will be joining us on loan- saying that, I don't believe for one minute they are asking that much for Mancienne and still believe that if the right price could be agreed between the clubs, Morgan would dig into his wallet for this one, so keep the faith. In the meantime, cast a glance towards our latest poll to rate Mancienne's value.

Why can't you just buy him up?!!

Since it is the E&S saying it, we can safely assume that £6m is a figure plucked out of the air. Until Chelsea work out their 25 man squad, not even Ancelotti can say for sure where Mancienne will be. Still take the view that it is sending very negative signals to Mancienne in not actively pushing to buy him, even if our bids are under what Chelsea might want for him.

£6m is a ridiculous price. Could happen on deadline day when Chelsea want to sell and Wolves want to buy.

Agree with the above. I think 4 million with another million based on appearances and such over the course of a couple of seasons is a plentiful amount. I guess there are 3 weeks until deadline day closes so maybe Ice raises a good point there. I don't think Mancienne will think negatively of us. He knows how valued he is by everyone at the club and if anything, it is most likely Chelsea that he is getting annoyed with now.

Oh well. Real have signed Carvalho for 6 and a half million so I imagine our chances have just significantly decreased.

Stupid money for Carvalho. Would have thought Jose was better than that.

Well we cant afford to buy Mancienne as no player we have can raise the funds needed so no point even thinking about buying Mancienne , Loan is the best option and only option and for me hes not leaving anyways , They need homegrown players !!! , Oh and he would cost a lot more than 4 million I think , 6-7 is what I've heard !!!!
