With Sylvan Ebanks-Blake returning to form and Kevin Doyle pushing for a starting place back in the side following injury. McCarthy has a choice to make.
Record signing Steven Fletcher has to be the first choice selection for Mick, but who (if anyone) will partner him against Everton?
"Doyle and Fletcher should both be available and Sylvan played very well on Saturday and has had a great pre-season.' Our Mick told the Express & Star.
In our recent Vital Wolves Poll. 65% of Vital Wolves users want to see a combination of Fletcher and Doyle against Everton.
Fletcher and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake took 20%, the prospect of all three took 10% and 5% would choose just Doyle on his own.
(95% of those polled included Steven Fletcher in their answer).
So with all Wolves fans clearly asking the same question. What does Mick think?
"Who plays? I go back to the start of the season last year. There were eight changes to the side that finished the season. There may well be a preferred pecking order at some stage but that only changes from players and their performance.
McCarthy continued: "I expect the same desire from everyone. I want them to push each other, whether they`re wingers, goalkeepers, strikers, defenders, full-backs. I want the ones out the team to be pushing those in the team."
So unsurprisingly no clues there then!
So while its clear a majority of us would like McCarthy to stick with the two up front, I wonder who we think he will pick (a slightly different twist on who we would want to pick ourselves!) to face Everton?
Someone who doesn't appear to be in the frame is Andy Keogh as he is being linked with a loan move away from Molinuex.
Both Cardiff and Bristol City have been linked to the Republic of Ireland International.
