'If It's Football, It's Vital'

McCarthy Speaks of Relief

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy admitted tonight that visitors Southend would leave with broken hearts after what amounts to what he described as most probably an undeserved defeat.

Mick told the official Wolverhampton Wanderers official site after the game that ''We had to work hard for it and probably didn't deserve it.'. Of the visitors he added 'They didn't deserve to lose the game in that cruel way.

Mick continued his praise for the struggling visitors and said 'Southend were different class and deserved at least to go to penalties but I'm glad it didn't and delighted we got through.'

Considering our continued failings in this tournament Wolves fans will be happy to see the side through to the next round.

It will probably be of collective benefit if we draw another Premiership side, or a crack Championship outfit to raise our game against in the next round if we are to progress.

To be honest I think the cup is a distraction for us. Not fussed if we draw Chelski in the next round and go out. On the plus side it does offer some much needed game time to the likes of Milias, Edwards, Steers etc. Zubes played well last night. Can't wait for the Gordies to come to the Old Gold Palace! They'll be up 4 it and we must be at our best to come away with something from this game. Still, early doors at the moment. I don't think we'll start seeing the best from this team until Kights & Hunt are at full tilt. Good luck lads -UTW
BIG TASTY
Too true my friend- some true quality yet to come in. Also, a win on Saturday- extend our unbeaten streak to four games and confidence can only keep growing.
