Wolves - Transfer Deadline Day

Wolves - Transfer Deadline Day

Marcus Bent is set to join Wolves on a transfer deadline day loan switch from Birmingham.

The 32-year-old will stay at Molineux until January 4th subject to all the paper work being completed ahead of the deadline this evening.

'Marcus is an experienced striker who has played plenty of Premier League football and scored goals,' said Wolves CEO Jez Moxey to Wolves Official Website.

With the deadline tonight there could be plenty of movement around the Premier League, especially with the new 25-man squad rule coming into effect tomorrow.

Marcus Bent is awful, Heskey is better you could have him for a pack of peanuts and we would have drove him to molineux.

what the hell is going on! Marcus Bent! Moxey says he has scored in the premier league. How long ago was that. Keogh is twice the player bent is. My god what happened to the only bringing in quality policy? He cant even get a game when brum have injuries. Would have thought someone like the two who left west ham for free would be better, franco or the brazilian fella.

Chill out jeeeeeez , Hes 4th choice striker , Hes only here to bolster numbers nothing else and probably get a run in the league cup thats it , Even if say Blake and Doyle got injured he would play fletcher on his own or doyle on his own or blake on his own whoever gets a knock , Marcus Bent has scored more goals than Andy Keogh thats for sure !!!!

Bent was very good for us (Everton) but that was a few years back. He should really be joining a Championship side and hoping to get more games!

what a pathetic signing.. he's just gonna be using up a valuable place in the 25-man squad. would have preffered the hoff as a physical presence/impact sub!! shocking stuff.. i thought we were going for quality and not quantity this year.. moxey's usual lies.. should have been looking at a central midfielder rather than a striker.. spurs willing to let jenas go i heard. sigurdsson was a target and now he's moved to germany. he would have been class!!!

Ok ok lets not get carried away now. True he's not a great player, but then did u really expect us to be able to get someone of quality in on loan until Jan who, injuries permitting, will just warm the bench? No. Personally i agree with HappyWanderer, Franco from Hammers woulda been a decent signing. I seem to remember him scoring against us in the 3-1 win (get in!) last season. He seemed to have a good touch and an eye for goal. Mick knows the score though. I'm resisting the urge to criticise him just yet. As should YOU!! - UTW

For a moment my heart lifted when I heard that we had acquired a Bent, though a quick Google to check on Christian names dashed my hopes. On the other hand, he is only here to be thrown on as a last resort and will play little part in the league games. If he does play, he surely is a better bet as a goal-scorer than Keogh. Of course, this is to ignore all the other attributes that AK brings to the team but we seem to be awash with ostensible wide midfielders ... well, we will be in a few weeks!
