Season Ticket Sales Slump

According to recently released figures, season ticket sales have taken a slump at Molineux.

Last season we had 19,975, this year, we have 18,498.

Hardly seems that dramatic a shift, 1,477 less, or a 7.5% drop if you prefer the mathematical approach.

"We have always prided ourselves on our number of season ticket holders. Jez Moxey told the Express & Star.

The CEO went on to add: "While it`s disappointing, we remain well aware of the difficult economic climate.'

Obviously under the current climate, we all have a little bit less in our back pockets, but is the decrease in sales that simple to explain?

There are various patterns, showing an overall decrease of season ticket sales across the Premier League, with a lot of clubs also taking a hit.

But could it not be, that the original excitement following promotion and our first year back in the Premier League was a novelty factor that boosted sales originally and now we have dipped down to a more realistic year-on-year figure?

I'm no economist, just merely pointing out a possible discussion point!

dont know why moxey is dissappointed. Surely if people havent renewed a season ticket then that seat is availiable to sell each week as a single ticket which makes the club more money per seat. And as the home attendances havent suffered then the club must be making more money for the same number of seats taken?
