Wolves need the fear

While we might have all gone into this season with raised expectations, Kevin Doyle believes we need the fear of a relegation fight to keep Wolves focussed.

Five games down, five points on the board isn't a bad return, it could be better, it could be worse, but it's a decent start and we're placed 15th going into the Aston Villa game.

While many of us hope to build on last season, that fear of second season syndrome has always played in the back of my mind and Doyle believes that fear will benefit us.

"We`re still going to be fighting for our lives, I`m pretty certain of that. It won`t be cosy. It will be difficult.' Kevin Doyle told the Express & Star.

He added: "We`ll see but, if we relax and think we`re going to be fine because we`ve signed some players, that`s when it will bite us. We need to keep that bit of fear in us and keep playing well.

"We could end up staying where we finished last season because everyone else has strengthened in the Premier League. It doesn`t mean we`re not going to be in the bottom fighting to stay up.

Vital Wolves Comment: After the first month or so of the season, now I think is a great time to reassess where we will be this season.

So our latest poll asks: Where Will Wolves Finish This Season?

Vital Wolves previously asked this back in July, so it will be interesting to compare the results two months on.

think you guys have enough spirit crete, you were unlucky not to get a point at least yesterday.
The Fear
And they have the cheek to call Wolves a Dirty Team , Sidwell Breaks Guedioura's leg , Warnock should have gone too , Nothing will be said about Sidwells tackle though will it , Berra gets 2 yellows for blocking and its all over the papers , Premiership can be a disgrace sometimes , Oh and as for Doyle , You and fletcher worked hard but no killer instinct yesterday , And Blake doesn't even get 10 minutes , Sort it out MM and give everyone a fair crack at the whip as you cant have 1 rule for some players and another for others , Guedioura should have started ahead of edwards anyways !!!!!!!!!!
ODDJOB79
I agree with ODDJOB79, especially about Guedioura. If MM had not delayed Guedioura's entry into the match until the last (ten) minute(s), several aspects of the match would have changed for the better for us: (a) we might have won (c) AV would probably not have scored their second goal and (c) Guedioura might not have broken his leg. You could see that the lad was trying single-handedly to win the match and by injecting some urgency into the proceedings, rashly over-reached himself in going for the ball. Now, the one person who would have galvanised our midfield (Jones and Edwards were poor) is out for 4-6 months. It makes the task that much harder. Oh dear!
