Zubar set for ankle operation

25-year-old Wolves defender Ronald Zubar is expected to be out for a further four weeks.

The right-back's season has been struck with injury after injury so far, but it seems the problem has now been identified and hopefully cured with an ankle operation in France.

"Ronald is having an operation to remove a small growth on his ankle. He`ll be out for a month. He went out to see the surgeon in France he`s used before with the club doctor Matt Perry and it was decided that was the best course of action.' Mick McCarthy told the Express & Star.

Vital Wolves Comment: I believe we have missed him so far this season, so to lose him for another month is a blow, but hopefully we'll get him back out there before the important Christmas period, which could prove crucial.

shocking.. things just keep getting better and better.. at least foley is doing a descent job at the mo.. we desperately need hunt and mouyokolo match fit and in the team.. and van damme needs to get sorted and in at left back. im looking forward to seeing what milijas and jones play like together against west ham if mick picks them.

I think I know why so many of our players are getting injured in training. I remember reading on NewsNow an interview which Karl Henry gave to the Daily Mail on 11 September, in which our captain provided an insight into the training ethos at Wolves. He asserted, "I don't stroll around in the park [as] if I'm having a kick-about with my mates. They are getting it in the neck, too. If they aren't closing down properly, they know what's coming. I'm going to have a go at them." And we thought that Maierhofer was wingeing when he made the same point, if from a different perspective! I suspect that the reporter led Henry on and that he said more than he should have done. Even so, it's a possible explanation for the spate of non-match injuries our players have suffered.

A very good point 'Southbank60'.. you might just be right too. we are in a terrible position in the table at the moment with those very tough games coming up. if we dont beat west ham we could still be on 5 points after 11/12 games which would mean needing at least 35 points from the remaining 26. very big ask

Absolutely! And we have to play these games without the key players injured by friendly fire: Zubar, Mouyokolo and possibly van Damme (perhaps that's why he dislikes England so much). Zubar is badly missed because he adds so much to the team, which the rather pedestrian Foley cannot offer. If Mouyokolo had not been injured in training, he would now have replaced Berra (if that did not strain MM's loyalty too far). Van Damme's injuries seem mysterious (as did Doyle's blood clot, for that matter) and perhaps were exacerbated by full-blooded tackles at Compton. While I am thinking about it, it might also explain the length of time it took for Fletcher's foot to heal up. What has happened to the striker, who flew out of the blocks in the match against Stoke? OK, I know he is not playing in his correct position in the team but who is ... which, of course, is another question.

i know he looked very good against stoke. Mick puzzles me sometimes. wigan looked like the most winnable game we'd had for a while and after playing well recently he decided to leave jones out who's our most creative midfielder and put mancienne in. we should have played 4-4-2 with jarvis-jones-henry-edwards although i dont rate edwards much at all he's just the next best thing. against west ham: Hahnemann Foley. Berra(mouyokolo if fit). Craddock. Elokobi. Jarvis. Jones. Milijas. Edwards (Hunt if fit). Doyle. Fletcher. agree?

Why didn't they do this surgery a month ago FFS???

I fear for our survival this season.
