Wolves skipper Karl Henry has apologised for his tackle on Jordi Gomez which earned him a red card after just 11 minutes of the game against Wigan.
'Having watched it again I can see that it looks horrific and realise that it was a deserved red card.' Henry told Wolves Official Website.
He continued: 'I've already apologised to the manager, TC and the boys, but I'd also like to apologise to the supporters, especially the ones that travelled up to Wigan.'
'It's something that I'll learn from. But things happen so quickly. I'd made the decision to go and win the ball and it turned out to be the wrong one.'
The tackle left Wolves playing the majority of the game with just 10 men and the side went on to lose.
While Henry himself received criticism from the media and supporters over his aggressive style.
Irish_Wolf wrote on our forum: 'Very disappointing TBH. The thuggish style of football on display is shocking and Mick needs to wise up. Karl Henry should be dropped for a while to calm him down, but then again he is probably following orders.'
P.Avfc wrote on our article comments: 'Karl Henry's challenge was appalling, I live near Wolverhampton, all my friends are wolves supporters and I know exactly how Karl Henry plays, they say themselves that Karl Henry will snap all the villa players when we play you again, says a lot doesn't it? ...He is a thug, not so much the whole wolves team but Karl Henry is.'
DubaiSpur wrote on our article comments: 'Considering the build-up of incidents that occurred without official sanction, examples being the Barton incidents and the Zamora challenge, one thing becomes worryingly clear-he cannot handle the step up from the championship for the full ninety, and he isn't afraid to go studs in or deliberately foul someone when he does get the better of him. In that respect, he is a thug.'
thehappywanderer wrote on our article comments: 'Karl broke Zamora's leg yes! How did he do it? By winning the ball clean as you like in a fair tackle when Zamora's leg unfortunately tangled. Henry didn't go over the ball no studs up even Mark Hughes didn't complain about the challenge. Also Henry was instantly attentive to Zamora and didn't walk away. Sound like a scum bag? Er no. I do not defend Karl's tackle against Wigan but one bad challenge in a blue moon doesn't require a witch hunt.'
