Return to 'one up' for Wolves

With four defeats on the spin, will Mick return to 4-5-1 after the international break?

Last season we lacked goals, but got the results with the one up front system.

We were moaned at for our lack of attacking style, but we only lost two games from the final eleven of the season and that kept us in the Premier League for a second season.

This year, we've tried to kick on a little and improve on last season.

We've spent big on Steven Fletcher and tried a different system.

We look more exciting, but have leaked goals at the back and that looks like the deciding factor for Mick going forward.

"We look like scoring more goals but we`re conceding. Last season we got some great results by grinding them out and maybe we`ve got to do the same again.

"I appreciate clean sheets when I get them and the fact we haven`t had one disappoints me." Manager Mick McCarthy told the Express & Star.

I would prefer a strengthening of our defence rather than the imposition of a more defensive formation. We need Premiership class defenders and, from the report of the Reserves match the other day, it looks like Mouyokolo might fit the bill. Naturally, we should splash out on replacements in January. By then, we might have to be more gung-ho in attack in order to put points on the board. We can only do that if we are tight at the back.

we should be playing 4-4-2 against west ham.. we need to win.. edwards, milijas, jones and jarvis across the midfield with fletcher and jarvis upfront. and if mouyokolo plays instead of berra we should be a bit more solid at the back. i think we should play 4-5-1 against the bigger teams coming up but definately not at west ham
SmithyWolves
Not sure that I agree with the articles comments that we look more exciting and more likely to score goals..... But I think I would rather have a younger quicker central defence and think that for next season and beyond we should be looking past Craddock and Berra, so either Stears or Mouyokolo need to step up...
OLDGOLD
correction: fletcher and doyle up front.. Berra is still improving and i think next year mouyokolo and berra will be our best partnership but at the moment craddock one of our best players. Stearman aswell will come good in the next couple of seasons and dont forget danny batth.. he looks a great young player i think he will be competing for a place in the 1st team nxt year
SmithyWolves
Hopefully we will stilll be in the prem then Smithy.
OLDGOLD
we wont be in the prem with our current back 4. i hve no idea where the high rating for berra comes from... none whatsoever. Moyokolo and Van Damme if he stays, need to start. Ward and Berra need not apply.
