Berra targets 'lesser' teams

The time has now come for Wolves to turn the positive performances into results.

The knowledgeable Wolves fan base has remained patient over the past month as we worked our way through a tough run of fixtures, we've faced Chelsea, Manchester United (twice), Manchester City and Arsenal.

Most teams would look at that run and just hope to come out the other end without too many heavy defeats.

While Wolves have come out with our head held high, we took the points against Manchester City and deserved more from the other sides.

But now as we move on to what could be an important period of the season, we have to turn those performances into results against the so-called lesser sides in the division.



'We can take comfort from our performances just lately - in none of the games were we outplayed in fact, if there was any justice, we would have picked something up from all of them.

'We didn't which is disappointing but, with no disrespect, if we continue to play like that against some of the lesser teams in the League then we soon should be moving up the table.' Christophe Berra told Wolves Official Website.

Vital Wolves Comment: It starts Saturday with Bolton at Molineux, then we move on to Blackpool away, before Sunderland come to us before the end of the month.

Six points could well be a realistic target over the next three games and that would really see us start shooting up the table.

these next few fixtures will make or break our season i think. bolton is a big one but for me blackpool is even bigger the week after. i think for relegation its gonna be west ham, blackpool and 1 other team (probably wigan). so blackpool is a game we need to win. however, they're playing well at home so it could be tough! i will keeping my eye on their results. but it doesnt matter who we are playing though we need to keep the same intensity and keep the focus at all time. we need to cut out costly errors at the back because our midfield & Kevin Doyle are doing a fantastic job, really getting at teams, only to be let down by the defence at vital times. I wouldnt wish an injury on any player and im sure wardy's ok but im glad that we will probably see someone else start at left back against bolton (be it Elokobi, Van Damme or whoever. Maybe Stearman with mouyokolo at centre-back). Kevin Davies is gonna give the centre-backs a tough time on saturday but lets hope Doyle shows him who's boss!! UTW.... time to get back in business... Molineux will be jumping tomorrow!!!!!

Bolton - Blackpool - Sunderland has got to be a minimum of 7 points, simply as. The performances have been superb against the big 4 - but we always seem to up our game against them, it's the games we have a real chance in we seem to switch off. Smithy spot on about intensity - focus the team need to believe, Doylers goal IS coming, lets just hope it's tomorrow and a clean sheet wouldn't go amiss either. UTW

Are you sure ward is out?? Cos unless he has accidentally fed-exed one of his legs to Kamchatka mick will have him in the team. No Lies. Of course, SmithyWolves I agree with you wholeheartedly - our defence is our weak link and a two goal lead will mean nothing as long as Stears keeps lunging in, or Berra passing strsight to the approaching opposition striker and ward, well doing whatever it is he supposedly does that means he is never around when an attack is on... I fear that fans like Woz68 are in for a nasty surprise when we get turned over by Blackpool and/or Bolton... 7 points. Not with our back 4. The writing has been on the wall for a long time. WE CANNOT KEEP A CLEAN SHEET. AGAINST ANYONE. Waiting for the usual abuse, but its plain for most of us fans to see. Get Moyokolo and ZUbar back in as soon as they are able - and FFS look to the transfer to give us a chance at the back - all the brillliant work Jarvs and co are doing cannot compensate for the deluge at the back.

I agree with Ad that we should be looking for seven points from these games. We had only lost one of five at home until the other night so let's make home advantage count and press for those wins. 7 points from these three games would probably have us up around 14th with a tally representative of our form. It is not 'still early' days because by the time Sunderland visit we will be a third into the season and if we are still in the bottom three then the rest of the season really does prove a relegation battle and to repeat, considering the summer investment, we should not be in one.

if we dont get into a better postition by xmas we're in trouble because after xmas the fixtures read.. Liverpool, West Ham, Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool, Bolton, Man Utd, Arsenal, blackpool, spurs, villa!!!
