'If It's Football, It's Vital'

England knock back for Jarvo

Fabio Capello might have forgotten to give Matt Jarvis a call ahead of naming his squad to face France.

We all expected him to get the call-up, but it didn't come and now Jarvis has to bounce back from that obvious disappointment.

"Matt has just got to carry on playing the way he is.' McCarthy told Express & Star.

He continued: "Why not enjoy a wonderful career with Wolves and play as well as he is, keep ripping up the Premier League against all the full-backs he`s playing against and just see where that takes him?

"All he`s got to do is keep playing and he can force the issue with his performances."

Vital Wolves Comment: Many thought playing for unfashionable Wolves might work against Jarvis in the eyes of Capello, which if proved the case, where exactly does that put us when looking at other inclusions in the squad?

Newcastle striker Andy Carroll is set to make his debut, as is Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson and even Cardiff's Bothroyd stands a chance of stepping out onto the Wembley turf.

If Wolves are unfashionable, I must have missed when Newcastle, Sunderland and bloomin Cardiff became massive fashionable clubs compared to us.

At last something with which I can agree with MM. I think Jarvis deserves a cap and am sorry that he has had his hopes dashed. Even so, his chance will come if maintains his present form. On the other hand, we want him fit and fresh for Saturday. Now, let's hope that Trappatoni releases Doyle.

personally i think Capello rates Jarvis very highly and see's him with a great future for england. i think he is testing jarvis' character to see if he keeps playing well. with young players i think its best not to chuck them straight in because things can go straight to their heads. i think carroll only got picked because defoe, bent and rooney are out at the moment. if jarvis keeps playing like he has capello wont be able to ignore him.. though with walcott, lennon, milner, young, SWP, johnson. he's got a lot to do!!!

I think you're giving Capello far too much credit smithy, if he really thought anything of Jarvo perhaps a text to pass on this thoughts would have been nice?
