'If It's Football, It's Vital'

We must beat Sunderland

There's no dressing it up on this occasion, Saturday's game against Sunderland is a must-win for Wolves and for Mick McCarthy.

While I might be in the minority of those supporting him, the pressure from the fans and media have made it clear that McCarthy needs results and he needs them now.

I recognise that and so does our Mick.

"We`ve got to get a win on Saturday. We need points - there`s no point looking at 'what if this happens or that happens`." McCarthy told the Express & Star.

Asked whether the mounting pressure on his position as boss was a concern he added: "We - collectively - need a victory. There`s no point dressing it up. Points are what counts, that`s my immediate concern.

"We`re on nine points and we need more, starting by getting three on Saturday."

Unfortunately for McCarthy we come up against another side in hot form.

Sunderland are unbeaten in four with wins over Stoke and Chelsea and draws with Tottenham and Everton, they look good at the moment under Steve Bruce and they will prove to be difficult opposition.

Mick certainly sounds like a man going down swinging, but would defeat really be the knock out blow?
Akela
I would personally give him until Christmas to try and turn things around, how long is he contracted for anyway??.Dont forget it is possible he could walk away!
Crete Wolf
two chances, and they will score from both.

Mick is still the man. I genuinely believe it would be to the detriment of the club if they give him the tin-tac! Keep the faith - UTW!!!
BIG TASTY
Gyan and Bent to play their first time together in the league. BOOOOM it will be a McCarthy knockout.
GazJohnson
Micks always talked a good game but after watching him take us through one of the worst seasons ever with excuses like 'we weren't good enough' or 'the team underperformed' he just states the obvious(as seen in the above quotes) and the players under him don't respond to his style of management. Wolves are in a tough spot and they have the tools to escape the christmas blues and it helps that its tight in the middle and a run of 4-5 games can see you in europe. But with Sunderland playing Gyan and Bent this could be a massacar!

Perhaps, but as we have been going on about the need to replace Berra, this will give Mouyokolo a chance to stake a place in the team. I hear that Zubar will be in the squad too and he put in a shift in central defence in the reserves match against Arsenal.

I still like the fact that from a suggestion of 'Who Should Play Left Back' and from a choice of Ward, George, Van Damme & Hill- 'Other' got 9 per cent of the vote. Tremendously amused.
New York City Wolf
Yeh,its been emotional!!lol,I think we should play 'other' on saturday he deserves his chance
Crete Wolf
"We must beat Sunderland" I think thats a bit of an understatment!.I think it should probably read "We must beat Sunderland or I and my coaching staff are out of a job come saturday night",I think it all depends where Mr Morgan sits.
Crete Wolf
We could always improve our defence by building a snowman and telling him to double up with Ward.
Southbank60
Other has unfortunately picked up an injury in a reserves clash unfortunately scheduled for last night. It is believed to be his ankle, though is currently heading north, and could be in his ear by tomorrow. get your clipboards out - you'll need em to keep up with the score. Elvis aint dead, and Mccarthy knows what he's doing.
