'If It's Football, It's Vital'

McCarthy delighted with three points

With 13 minutes to go, the draft headlines for Sunday's newspapers wouldn't have made good reading for our Mick.

In fact, they probably would have suggested that the time had come for McCarthy to clear his desk at Molineux this morning.

But thanks to Stephen Hunt and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake Wolves managed to snatch a win from the jaws of defeat to scupper the McCarthy out bandwagon.

"I`m delighted for everybody and in particular for the fans who stuck with us. There was some suggestion I`d had a go at them. That wasn`t right.'

"I had a go at the 'numpties` who phone in radio stations and do blogs and things like that. Our fans who turn up here have been brilliant this season, outstanding, and I said that as well.' McCarthy told the Express & Star.

To be honest, who can blame him for a little outburst, his straight talking demeanour is one of things we love about him, so just because he has a little outburst at those beginning to question him, so what?

Thankfully I don't qualify as a numpty as I continued to back McCarthy over the past month and if I was smug git I could claim that I told you so, I won't however as I'm well aware there will be plenty more twists to come this season.

McCarthy continued: "On Saturday, when we needed that support, at 2-1 down, they were fabulous. They drove us on and if ever there was a never-say-die spirit it was there on Saturday.

"So thanks to them and they can enjoy the victory just as the players."

Vital Wolves Comment: With West Ham winning, three points were Vital to avoid dropping to 20th and to keep within touching distance of the pack.

Next up is Blackburn, who have just had a thumping from Manchester United, will that prove to be good timing?

Akela, I hope you are right and I will be pleased to apologize to you, MM and even his second cousin three times removed if he keeps us up. What I do resent is MM's assertion that we are not genuine supporters and therefore do not care, are seeking to undermine the team and are incapable of expressing a valid opinion, if it differs from his. I think he should apologize to us now.

Oh! I forgot to add that I would like others who feel like me to make their views known (I don't mind hearing from numpty bashers either).
Southbank60
I didn't really take his comments the same way as you so i`m not particularly bothered by what he said.
Akela
What other way could one take them?
Southbank60
Not personally??? :) McCarthy has been on the receiving end of abuse for weeks, so he's taken his chance to have a pop back and praise the support who did back him and the squad, all helps to create a siege atmosphere in the changing room.
Akela
Positive support is always better than negative support, that's what MM is getting at and if you can't see that you are a numpty, get behind Mick and the lads, UTW.
Wolf Man
If I did my job badly, I would expect to be criticized. Indeed, those in my charge had to comment on my performance for good or ill at the end of the period of association. I write as part of my job and when I send in a draft, referees strive to find faults, often unfairly. One has to take the flak without complaint or at least argue one's case. And, believe it or not, sometimes the critics are right and the revision is all the better for the comments. Are you saying that MM is always right and that he has never made mistakes? If not, as fans, why can't we point out his errors, as we see them, whether his tactics, his selection of players and the way he has spent the millions at his disposal? It comes with the job, just like mine ... and I do not earn a fraction of what he is paid. I am aware of the issue of confidence and support but the manager and the team have to earn it. Goodness, I did not think that Wolves fans were yes-men and lacking in independent thought. Those, who feel that way are the numpties (along with the mindless thugs, though for a different reason).
Southbank60
Numpties or not at least we are passioniate supporters who all, at the end of the day, want to see the team do well. As Dirty Harry once said, 'Opinions are like *********s. Everybody's got one'. So here's mine. I love Mick. He's made some great signings (ok some haven't worked out - such is life), he instills a great work ethic into the team which I also like to see and I genuinely believe the team would be worse off without him. And, last but not least, he's the funniest deadpan miserable SOB I ever saw. How can u not love that??!!! Onwards and upwards - UTW!!!

I'll drink to that, Big Tasty.
