Win was our turning point says McCarthy

Three points against Sunderland was obviously welcome, but I'm not going to let myself get carried away, after all it is just one game.

The season is long and while I don't allow myself to get too despondent after a defeat, I won't get too excited over a win either.

But after the week McCarthy had with the pressure slowly building up towards that game, the release he has had means that he believes that game to be the turning point of our season.

"It is a turning point. We`ve got three points which hasn`t happened very often this season.' McCarthy told the Express & Star.

Of course Mick's right, that win over Sunderland was only our third win of the season to-date.

So really, is it not too early to call it a turning point?

He continued: "Goodness only knows what it will do for the rest of our season, but it`s a turning point because we`re on 12 points and not nine.

"People will look at us and think they can beat us but maybe they`ll view us differently after this. If we`d been beaten it would have been a dreadful day for us.

Vital Wolves Comment: At least the win should slow down the McCarthy out bandwagon, although I doubt it has been derailed entirely just yet..

Blimey, yet another turning-point. I hope it is a better one that the outcome of the Manchester City match. In this case, it just might be the case because with Zubar's return we have a key defender back. Now, if only Stearman could cut out his momentary lapses of reason and opposing teams merely aimed long balls at Berra's head ... oh, and we had a decent left back and an extra centre back for good luck .. we would be OK. Mancienne looks good in Henry's position too. With a stronger defence (Mouyokolo for RS or CB if they do not overcome their weaknesses), our midfield, marshalled by Milijas, will prosper. Hunt is getting stronger and Jarvis will regularly hit a striker's head with balls into the box. Doyle will benefit and bang in the goals, as will our supersub, SEB. We might even be able to afford the luxury of playing Fletcher upfront with Doyle from the off. Hey! It could happen.
