Jez targets 2 or 3 new signings for Wolves

We might have missed out on signing Steve Sidwell again, but Wolves CEO Jez Moxey remains philosophical.

Anyone watching Sky Sports News over the last couple of days would have just been waiting for the official announcement that Sidwell had joined Wolves.

The 28-year-old reportedly agreed to join Wolves on two separate occasions and was even at the game during the week, watching his never-to-be teammates beat Chelsea.

Personal terms and terms with Aston Villa were all agreed, but a late twist saw Fulham swoop and kill off the deal.

'Fulham have now come in for him, and, rather than take over his contract which runs to the end of the season, they have offered him a long-term deal.' Jez told Wolves Official Website.

He added: 'Even after a few days into the window's opening, it's already proving just as difficult as in previous years.

'However we continue to actively pursue at least two or three potential new signings.'

bridge and lescott on loan and a good midfielder.. shame we missed out on sidwell
SmithyWolves
Very strange?Sidwell not confirmed signed for Fulham, its not over till the fat lady sings!!!,is he having second thoughts?or should that be third thoughts?..watch this space.

Let's spend the lot on Lescott.
Southbank60
If Villa can get Bentley from Tottenham and Blues can get Keane we really have to be looking at the same quality, as mentioned above, along the lines of Bridge and Lescott. It's a gamble but considering Harry is unloading half his squad just so he can afford to put David Beckham up in a B&B for a fortnight I'd go in for Woodgate. I've heard that if we pay 40% of his wages a pair of crutches are thrown in for free, pay 50% and Robbie Keane will drop him off in a wheelchair.
New York City Wolf
it appears we will miss out on bridge for sure as he has an offer from villa and west ham have said they would be prepared to pay his wages in full. we should look at the likes of gibbs at arsenal for a loan deal or stephen warnock who is apparently not happy at villa after being dropped at the weekend and with the arrival of bridge on the cards he would be available for sure. gibson on loan again from united? i actually think that the defence are starting to come good now.. when we were making horrific mistakes every week the we had a different back 4 every week so i think there were some unsettled performances.. we've had the same back 4 now for a while and our form has improved. we were playing really well but mistakes were costing us, now hopefully we can carry on with the performances, cut out the mistakes and mve up the table!!!!! I can't believe I am going to say this but I agree with you, Smithy Wolves (that is, it 's not that I can't believe what you are saying, rather I can't believe that I am warming to our central defenders).
Southbank60
Having just listened to the commentary of the match against Doncaster, I want to disassociate myself from the last statement.
Southbank60
ha ha i was going to the say something along those lines.. shocking!!
SmithyWolves
strong side as well. I do love the FA cup but as I said previously I would have happily sacrificed defeat today for points on the table next week. Now we have a worse case scenario of a replay. With any fixture congestion he will have to field a weaker team and we'll probably get beat so today was a waste of time really.
New York City Wolf
I'd play a full complement of second teamers. But to more important matters, who will we put in at left back now that George can't play?
Southbank60
It's a disaster. We must, simply must play Stephen Ward at left back so who the devil will we play up front? Marcus has got a good left foot on him? If that doesn't work then, speaking of formations, what about 4-6-0. I 'count' on someone to 'counter' me on that 'attack.' Richard Stearman will be popping round for tea tomorrow afternoon so he will 'defend' me. Okay, either the copious amounts of (legal) drugs I have taken to combat the flu have damaged my think tank, or it's not the flu but stress induced insanity, said the nurse whilst reading my Vital's. Only sleep at this moment would appear in one's best interests. If you visit me on the Stephen (Ward!) don't bring grapes- bring bolt cutters and laughing gas. It might not be funny now, but at the end of the season I think we will be smiling.
New York City Wolf
Ha!Ha!. I forgot to write that I was thinking about the MC match but NYCW picked up the inference. As for the formation next Saturday I would play A. Bus and position him on our goal line. You should only use Stearman to defend you in court on odd days, though you could guarantee that Berra would trip up the prosecution or earn you a delay by blocking tactics. Filling the left back berth might be a problem to us but we all know who will occupy it. With Johnson coming down that flank, it's hardly an enjoyable prospect. If we don't get a replacement LB this week, I'll join NYCW on the ward. And to make mattrers worse MC will have Dzeko in their side.
Southbank60
The way its going the headline should read"2 or 3 signings target Jez"
Crete Wolf
Crete Wolf: that's what I am afraid of. Leaving aside the finds like Guedioura and the certs like Doyle, the manager and scouting team were not fully using their critical faculties when they viewed some of the players bought ... or did not assess them in relation to the Premier League. But, isn't this the problem. Because the PL operates at a level above other leagues, especially in terms of pace and pressure, one can only discern a person's ability to cope when he is actually playing in a match.
