Wolves will not appeal

A little bit of news coming from Molineux today is that we have decided against appealing George Elokobi's sending off against Doncaster.

Anthony Taylor gave Elokobi his marching orders after an aerial challenge with James Coppinger.

For me it was aggressive, but but a sending off seemed a bit harsh and Mick McCarthy was certainly of this view after the game.

Put on the other foot, if it was one of their lads I'd have been calling for a red, so I don't have too many complaints. It's one of those, seen them given, seen them not given decisions.

Which is probably what ran through the mind of club officials when deciding whether ref Taylor had made a: 'serious and obvious error' which is what would need to be proved for the decision to be overturned.

'Having spoken to everyone involved, and had another look at the incident which led to George's dismissal at Doncaster, we have decided not to appeal,' said club secretary Richard Skirrow.

Vital Wolves Comment: And considering our record with fines and appeals from football suits we're unlikely to win anyway!

In reality, that's probably the right decision. But it's unfair because George clearly went in for the ball. According to the reports, the ref. seems rather keen on dishing out red cards. The outcome of his ill-considered decision is to leave us short at the back with a clutch of difficult games coming up.
