Berra pleased with spirit

A moral boosting defeat.

We've had quite a few of those, but it does seem to be the best way to analyse the 4-3 defeat at the hands of Premier League table toppers Manchester City.

We could have come away with something if our second half performance matches the first half, but we didn't an ultimately we come away with nothing but pride.

'We showed great team spirit,' Berra told Wolves Official Website. 'We were the better team in the first half and I don't think they had many chances.

'We should have come in at half time 2-0 up with how we were playing but didn't get the second and lost a goal from a corner which was disappointing.

It was disappointing to concede yet another goal from a corner, which Berra admitted and went on to add: 'we've probably lost too many goals to set pieces this season.

'But the spirit we showed to come back from 4-1 was great.

Vital Wolves Comment: How do you feel after this performance? On quite a few occasions this season we have had these moral boosting performances against the top sides.

Some have even brought wins and unexpected points, but then we follow it up with a disappointing performance and defeat against the sides in and around us.

Will it be different this time? Have your say on the comments below..

The problem as I see it is that while we are plodding along ok, I can see a resurgent West Ham under O'Neill finishing above us come the end of the season and I don't believe Villa and Brum will stay down, so we need to get ahead of Wigan and Fulham.

This is the worry, though the fans of other clubs are presumably saying the same thing about us. Will MON go to West Ham and will AV buy Bent from Sunderland? We are picking up some points in this month of hell but we could have done without squandering a lead and a sackful of goals against MC. But now I am merely repeating things I said in my report.
