'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fergie praise sincere

Mick McCarthy knows that when Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson dishes out a compliment he means it.

Following our win over United on Saturday evening, ending Sir Alex's hopes of going the full season unbeaten, the Man Utd manager praised our style of play and claimed we were in a false position in the league.

Unfortunately, the table doesn't lie and while we may not be one of the worst three sides in the division, we are in terms of results and so we have to follow up the three points against United going forward.

'How do we follow United up? By going to Arsenal on Saturday and getting something I suppose.' McCarthy told Wolves Official Website

He added: 'That's not going to be easy, but neither was beating Man United.

'I think when Sir Alex has been saying that we're in a false position and we're a good team, he's saying it with sincerity because he's said that to me before and I've spoken to him on the phone a couple of times.

'So he wasn't just saying it - he meant it.

Vital Wolves Comment: Can we pull out another surprise against Arsenal?

Well if Newcastle can score four past them in one half then surely we stand a chance??

Those outside are attracted by the silver lining of the cloud of relegation over this Club. All these plaudits following memorable victories over big clubs, though appreciated, count for nothing. The reality remains the games that have to be won in order to move into the light of Premiership safety. Hi-ho to that!

i'm not going to be expecting anything from the arsenal game, that way i won't be disapointed if we lose. however the following game at the hawthorns is going to be huge, the biggest game of our season so far i think.. and could be the one to pull us out of the relegation zone, and them into it. If we can win that and move out of the bottom 3, going into the remaining 11 games of the season which all look like we can get something out of them. i think we are going to stay up and really push on next season!! i think o'hara and hammill have really made a difference to our team already aswell. we are a lot more energetic, balanced and much much more creative now with those 2 in the team!!!!! UTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The elimination of errors (or the failure to do so) is the subject of my latest report. I hope we have finally learnt to cut them out and, in this respect, I do detect an improvement in performance from our two central defenders. But, only time will tell! We may not have to deploy loveW's Doomsday tactic in its entirety, though I think we should be more attack-minded on the pitch. We need wins.
