Molineux Redevelopment Set To Start

Wolves plans for the redevelopment of Molineux have been approved and will start at the end of this season.

Many thought that the redevelopment was rather dependent on whether Wolves would survive in the Premier League this season, but Wolves Chairman Steve Morgan believes the two can go hand in hand and has stated the development will not prevent more investment into the squad.

'The aim is to drive the Club forwards at all levels and to ensure we put our team in the best possible position to compete at the highest level. To do that we need the best possible facilities at Molineux.' Morgan told Wolves Official Website.

He continued: 'We know there is a balance to be struck. This decision is about a statement of our commitment, belief and ambition and about the planned success for Wolves over the medium to long-term but we will also continue our policy of investing in our talented, young squad because there is no point in having a great stadium if we don't have a great team to play in it.

'As well as the football, we have always stressed the importance of the Club also playing a key role in the life of the City. And we are keen for Molineux to grow as a source of immense civic pride for everyone in Wolverhampton.'

Phase One will begin in May and will see the demolition of the Stan Cullis Stand and a new two-tier stand built in its place, the grounds capacity will rise from around 29,000 to approximately 31,700, however it isn't expected to be completed for a year and will cost an estimated £16million.

Yes, and nice to read the blog with Mr Morgan. However, Its all fine and well wanting to move forward, but embarking on £40 mil worth of stadium development when all we spent to try and stay up was half a mil in the transfer makes the mind boggle. Were we mid table, league status more or less assured I would understand, but we are en-course for relegation, Jarvis has just about signed for 'Pool next season and Doyle et al will not hang around for life in the championship... so I dont understand how this is all justified. I want to jump around with my hands in the air like I just dont care... I really do... but I do care, I worry that we will not stay up, and the exodus of talent will take us 3-5 years to recoup ... am I alone with these concerns...?? There is no point saying the squad wont be neglected Steve, cos the squad already has been - Hammil, as bright a star as he may turn out to be, was all we bought in to stave off relegation ?? I need my pills.

We didn't just spend half a million to stay up, we spent a large amount of money in the summer and did the same the previous year. The one thing we cannot complain about is the amount of money being spent as we are quite big spenders when you take a look around the league.

bloody hell talk about being negative! I hope the players don't read this garbage because if they do I think they will be saying sod it - the fans have got us down so why bother. has for Jarvo and Doyler - they are going nowere wether we stay up or not, we have to spend within our means or would you rather we do a pompy? I think you have forgot another player - the clue is - he plays for spurs? We can still do it - as long has we "ALL" keep our nerve! We are Wolves...........Onwards and Upwards.

Yea, dont be negative. This is a good news :) Not only does it shows the confidence of Mr. Morgan, but aswell it is really a proof of his intelligent, long term aproach. I believe we have a squad capable of standing in Premier league. Yesterday I was concerned a bit about the news, that Newcastle thinks, that they can have Doyle.... and the news said, that they even think they can have him for 9 million pounds ! Ridiculous. Luckily, I just read Mick sent them to hell, saying to bring 35 millions :D Kevin has the potential to be a legend at Wolves once in the future... And if the players read this ? Good job this is written and not spoken!dont know about slovakian but the old black country accent takes a bit to get to grips with,ask my wife!she cant understand a word of it!I have to translate for her every time we visit Wolves!.Great news about the ground,lets hope they use the corners this time!lol.UTW.
