'If It's Football, It's Vital'

High Noon at the Hawthorns!

All is set for a huge monumental 6 pointer on Super Sunday, question is, super for who?

I see Merlin is treating the lads to a Hotel sleep over in Tescoland on Saturday night, hope this gets the adrenalin flowing, they surely wont need to get 'up' for this one!

Perhaps a pie and a pint then a movie to get the lads in the mood!, what movie?? mmm, maybe sword in the stone! starring Merlin of course, na I think Zulu would be more apt,get them into a combative frame of mind!

The favourite though would have to be the Gary Cooper classic High Noon!

I think the one big advantage for us is that we have occupied a bottom three place for some time and for Albion the pressure of dropping down into the 'abyss' for the first time could tell on them. Normally, these games a lot of the time end up in dire goalless draws, this time though I have a feeling it could be a 'goalfest',a draw would favour Albion, I think 'Uncle Woy' would take a draw if offered, for Wolves I think a win is a must.

If we can win this one and then defeat Blackpool the week after it would set us up to go on that elusive little winning run of games that we have all been craving for all season.

Could we get over it if we lose? maybe, but time and games are running out, I think if one of these teams wins both games (6 points) It will go a huge way to reaching safety, the team that loses both will almost certainly be playing in a different division next season, drawing both will do no favours to either team.

I am informed that the 'other' division that we seem to mention so often on here is no longer named after a fizzy pop, but NPower is the new 'handle', lets hope the Wolves never appear in this so named league!

Teamsheet goes out the window on this one, I don't care who plays, I don't care about the subs, I don't care about the weather, its time for everything to click into place, we've played some good stuff at times this term and we now need to give someone a real good pasting! and what better time to start than at Noon?

I think high scoring game 4-2 to the Wolves and a second defeat from the Wolves for Uncle Woy this season! and we'll make it a hat trick for him on May 8th when they visit the Molineux!

Was thinking wouldn't it be 'heaven' if by beating the baggies on May 8th we also celebrate our 'safety' in the top flight. If we do, free drinks in my bar. Not Banksy though!,he can probably shift a barrel on his own, have some 'Kentucky' for NYC. The last time we won at the Hawthorns was I think a 4-3 scoreline, Iwan Roberts hat trick, wouldn't it be lovely if one of the Wolves players could emulate that feat on this afternoon, ahhhh dreaming again!!

Up the Wolves!

Well I'm back from the pub!!,disapointing second half and if I'm brutally honest a fair result.Wer'e not going to manage the six points Banksy but you'll be pleased to know I managed the six pints!.If I am to criticise Merlin in any way it would be the second half substitution of Milijas,to bring him off at that point was correct, but to replace him with another striker?wrong move, another holding midfielder or another defender at that stage was I think the correct call.Albion missed loads of chances and should have scored well before they did!,where does that leave us?,well as I said in the blog a draw would suit Albion better and it has.Blackpool home now is a monumental game and all the pressure is now back on the Wolves,Albion had it today being the home side now all the expectation is on us next week at home!.Again being honest it looked to me like a couple of championship teams playing out there, quality was never a strong point and if one of those teams stay up I think it will be through luck rather than skill.I thought even in the first half we were 'left side happy',with the only option for attack coming from Jarvis.Again the goal came from a 'set play' and no matter how good the goal was,I do worry about our lack of goals from open play.Doyle for me this year is not scoring enough and Seb was 'invisible' after coming on,not that I blame him,as I said earlier it was the wrong call from the 'Pope' and Coco.Hammill maybe on right side or Jones on to shore the midfield up would have been the more reasonable switch, but its all over now,we have to move on and think about the Blackpool game. Its concerning though that we are, I think, one game from being put under 'intense' pressure. If we lose a game we are 'expected' to win, like the next one,all the pressure will revert back to us.We need another option up front apart from Jarvis!,Hunt or Hammill on the other side to give us not only another option but to give us another outlet of pace to keep the opposition guessing!it does'nt take a genius at the moment to know which side the attack is going to come from and Uncle Woy sussed that out in the second half!.Doyle,I feel needs a rest,I would play Fletcher up front against Blackpool and for sure start with TWO wide men, giving us options for attacking.I fear we are nearing the point of no return, next game we could have passed it!.As ever and always Up the Wolves!!.

I'm sitting at the computer in my sister-in-law's house near Derby so I cannot write a proper report. This will have to wait for a day or two. However, I can say that I am bitterly disappointed and am not proving to be a good guest. I can't even have a beer or two because I cannot afford a hangover for tomorrow when I have to go to a meeting in Leicester. Once again, we threw away points in injury time ... and, once again, glaring misses from Jarvis cost us pooints (apart from that he played well). I can't say that we wuz robbed because the Baggies deserved a draw but it is so hard to get so close and then chuck it away. We did not look like scoring (the goal and MJ's miss apart) and we will not get goals in open play unless we play Fletcher up-front with Doyle. Why wasn't Hammill playing? I even missed the goals because the freeview site went offline. In the gaps wags were posting a variety of scores so I did not know that we had drawn until I went to the official blogsite. Aaarrrggghhh!!!!! If only ...

Eleven matches to go now. Still bottom. Still 4-5-1. The straw we have to clutch to from now on, it seems, is that Mick proves us all wrong in advocating attack and succeeds his way.

I think the problem of playing a 4-4-2 formation is the status of O'Hara. I reckon that to sign him up MM had to promise him a guaranteed start. To do so, Mick thinks he has to forego a partner for Doyle up-front. It could have worked today but, given our penchant for giving away goals, especially late in tha game, a one-goal advantage was never going to be enough. Someone please show Jarvis how to score when presented with a sitter. Perhaps he should try to go round the goalie, as Tevez did today.
