More Academy Players Signed By Wolves

Wolves have announced three more acadamey players have been offered contracts at the club.

Midfielders Louis Harris and Jack Price, and defender Michael Ihiekwe have secured pro terms, increasing a list that already included Ethan Ebanks-Landel, James Spray and Johnny Gorman.

Towards the end of last year Liam MacAlinden and Zeli Ismail, touted by former academy chief Chris Evans as possibly the first hundred million pound player, were also both signed on three year deals.

Having seen the Keane's and the Murray's come through our youth system and show such natural promise at tender years we can count oursleves lucky.

There following however many years where youth graduates making the grade appeared few a far between- most were shipped out to the lower leagues (I support this, allowing the players to learn the real game, and come to terms with the demands of first team football) but few have returned to us and made their mark on the first team squad.

The good news is that players at this age are of course outside of the 25 player squad rule and so enjoy the possibility that if they are doing the business in the reserves or out on loan, they can be thrown into the equation, and perhaps next year we will see witness something special.

By Evans measure, a couple of Ismail tap ins could pay for the new stadium. Jokes aside, if he is as good as we have been hearing, there stands every chance and hope we may be the ones to witness the emergence of a new prodigal son!

Optimism on a Sunday. Rare yet welcome.
