Winger Departs

Wolves mercurial left winger Mark Kennedy has rejected the clubs offer of a new contract in favour of a move to the Capital with Crystal Palace.

And Wolves look set to replace him with Aston Villa's Peter Whittingham.

Whittingham, 21, made just 4 appearances for Villa last season and has now seen his asking price cut by half to just £500,000

Kennedy, a £2 million signing from Manchester City endured a torrid last season with Wolves where he was frequently singled out for The Molineux Treatment by the home fans heaping derision on every move he made.

A far cry form his first seasons at the club. In 2001/2, in part down to Sparky's inspired wing-play Wolves looked set for promotion until injuries cut his season, and Wolves promotion push short.

The following campaign he once again terrorised defenders and built a near telepathic understanding with Kenny Miller,(many of whose goals came courtesy of a Kennedy assist) as well as scoring the opener in the 2002/3 play off final at Cardiff.

Of late Sparky had played a more defencive central role up until the end of last season, when he was once more allowed to play out wide and gave indications that his days as a winger may not be quite over yet.

The pity is, that it wont be with Wolves.

Vital Wolves wishes Mark all the best for the future. Dont come back to haunt us though eh Sparky ?

Kennedy was a decent player until he was injured then Hoddled, a little more money back on the credit card bill and a solid young player as a replacement, all you need now is a manager and that front has gone quiet.
