'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Finally Jarvis gets his England call

It's taken enough time but England boss Fabio Capello has finally wiped his glasses clean and realised the talent that Matt Jarvis can bring to the England team.

The 24-year-old has been on stand-by on a number of occasions for Capello over the past year, but he has never made the announced squad until now.

Jarvis will be included in the squad to take on Wales on Saturday in the Euro 2012 qualifying match.

Of course, just because he has been included in the 26-man squad, it doesn't mean he is guaranteed to win his first England cap.

However if he does he would become the first Wolves player to represent England since Steve Bull in October 1990 (prepare to here that stat A LOT over the next week).

England squad: Ben Foster (Birmingham), Robert Green (West Ham), Joe Hart (Man City), Leighton Baines (Everton), Gary Cahill (Bolton), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Michael Dawson (Tottenham), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Joleon Lescott (Man City), John Terry (Chelsea, capt), Kyle Walker (Aston Villa), Gareth Barry (Man City), Stewart Downing (Aston Villa), Matt Jarvis (Wolves), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham), James Milner (Man City), Scott Parker (West Ham), Ashley Young (Aston Villa), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal), Darren Bent (Aston Villa), Andy Carroll (Liverpool), Peter Crouch (Tottenham), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham), Wayne Rooney (Man Utd).

He did take his time considering the left has proven a problem for so many managers, so familiar? But alas, he is in the squad now and whilst it was all very well making the prov squads previously, he now has the chance to show his ability on the training ground. Personally I think Fab Cap should have been fired the minute he got off the plane after our pathetic efforts last summer but this is one decision he has finally been able to call correctly- agreed it could and should have come sooner. I still think he will get his chance against Ghana.
