Hammill called up for England-Under-21s

Adam Hammill has been called up to the England Under-21s squad.

Hammill had been on stand-by for the squad and manager Stuart Pearce has gave him the call yesterday for tonight's game with Iceland at Preston's Deepdale Ground (7.45pm kick off).

If you are confused with his call-up considering his age (he's 23), then he qualifies for the side as he fulfilled the age criteria at the start of the qualification programme.

Fine! So, we'll have another crocked player to replace on Saturday ... though I am pleased for the lad. Thankfully, Berra made it through the game yesterday. I never thought I would say that but he has improved a lot, and his partnership with Stearman is one of the reasons why we should be able to take the loss of Doyle in our stride.

He came on towards the end of the second half, played a bit down the left and then switched to the right, he did ok, but it was while England were chasing the game and they ended up losing 2-1.
