Wolves optimistic over Fletcher

With Wolves threatening to drop out of the Premier League with nothing but a whimper, Mick will be buoyed by the news that Steven Fletcher should be fit for Sunday.

Wolves failed to take advantage of our game in hand against Stoke, any kind of result would have been good enough to drag ourselves out of the bottom three, but instead, we lost, we lost badly, draining all hope from many that we can avoid the drop this season.

Stoke is not an easy place to go, I get that, but all my usual optimism wilted away with a performance that was only good enough to register one shot on goal in 90 minutes of football.

With Kevin Doyle out with a medial ligament injury and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake most likely to be out with a hamstring complaint, our fire power has become heavily reliant on Steven Fletcher.

So when he too hobbled off, heads really did begin to sink.

'The injury to Fletch hopefully doesn't seem to be as bad as it could have been,' said boss Mick McCarthy to Wolves Official Website giving the first bit of news we've had all week.

'Steven jarred the knee and was re-assessed yesterday,' Head of Wolves' Medical Department Steve Kemp told WOW.

'Fortunately there is no significant damage but the knee does need time to settle and, if necessary, he could have a fitness test on either Saturday or Sunday.'

Vital Wolves Comment: If ever there was a time to repay that transfer fee, it's now.
