'If It's Football, It's Vital'

An Interview With A Baggies Fan

Ahead of this weekends Black Country derby, Vital Wolves and Vital WBA met up for a chat.

So thanks goes to Baggy Boy for the following interview:

Best memory of the Black Country derby?

We've had some good games over the years and recently our matches seem to count for something far greater than simply local pride or league games.

Best memory has to be the 1-0 win back in 2008 because it helped secure our first place finish and automatic promotion. Had we lost to you then confidence could've gone and we all know how strong Stoke were that season and how tight it was from 1st place to the last play off position, so simply what the victory helped us achieve counts for a lot for me.

Worst memory of the Black Country derby?

Worse memory was the season before when we ended up playing in the play offs. We'd been a little up and down all season really when you look back at results, but we hit a bad patch and that loss to you seemed to be the end of our promotion hopes, so I just remember the disappointment felt at the time.

Thankfully we pulled it round in the end before blowing it against Derby, but the play off games weren't too enjoyable because of the stress either.

Do you enjoy the Black Country derby and do you miss it when we're in different divisions?

Love them, I like all the derbies so the more local teams we can get alongside us the better. It's brilliant for the banter, and when you ignore the idiots on all sides it's what football's supposed to be in my eyes. So yes I do miss it when divisions separate us, as for the Baggies in the last few months there's nothing better than putting your local rivals to the sword and taking the bragging rights - even if it's only until the next match.

With that in mind do you want us to stay up or do you enjoy watching us struggle?

Stay up definitely, but at the same time I enjoy watching you struggle.

If Wolves, Stoke, Blues, and the Villa could occupy the spaces just above the bottom 3 I'd be perfectly happy with that :-)

The more local rivalries that the Baggies can hopefully come out on top off the better - far more interesting than playing a plethora of London clubs every week.
